Tom:

Thank you for following up with me and providing budget information for re-mobilizing with the portable drilling rig to pick up the final boring location at Arlington. Comparing the cost furnished to you by the driller with the currently available savings in the budgetary items of our contract (unutilized backhoe and utility locate costs), it appears that this is, for all intents and purposes, a "wash". Unless some monetary condition changes, my direction is therefore for you to pursue this work and re-mobilize to pick up final boring location B-2. I appreciate your proactiveness in giving us options.

In terms of the indicated availability of the portable drilling rig, it is currently backlogged until the first part of September, but there is a chance that it could become available for the work during the week of August 13. If the boring needs to wait until September, we will attempt to work around it in our design development, but the August 13 week, or anything else that comes up sooner, would obviously be favorable. As you keep in contact with the driller please keep us apprised of the work schedule, so that we can coordinate with the City. I will be on vacation from Friday, July 27, until Monday, August 13, so please be sure to contact Eric deMontigny and/or Tom Giese at my office as updates occur. They have been included on this email.

Finally, as we discussed, please do not let the final boring hold up the development and distribution of draft geotechnical information and conclusions that might be made from the borings and past geotechnical evaluations that have been done to date. The sooner this information is available for our review, the more it can aid us in moving forward.
