FYI
Chris
and Tom-
We
have reduced our level of effort on the Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade by
about 1/3 and the Biosolids Composting Facility by just
over 1/2. Additional cost savings are possible if work on the two
projects is concurrent. If the scope or level of effort is still not
commensurate with the City's or your expectations, please call so we can
identify other cost reducing factors.
Have a
great weekend!

Thank you Stacy. We will include contractual
assumptions/exclusions to represent what
boils down to a very simplified effort for you on
this project.
Please call if
anything comes up.

Hi Stacy:
We have received your proposals on the landscape
architecture services at the Arlington WWTP and composting facilities. I have
also had some follow-up with the City, as initial estimates are higher than they
would like to spend. If you would kindly revise your proposals to reflect the
bullet items below, which offer some different assumptions than the ones used in
your first proposal, I'd appreciate it.
- At the WWTP site, the City desires a scope that
would include landscaping/screening on the north side of the facility, to
separate from the park along the river that is adjacent to the north. They
would additionally like scope to include possible shading around the rest of
the perimeter of the plant, which may or may not get added during design (your
assumption would be that it would). No landscaping around interior facilities,
new or existing, will be necessary.
- At the composting facility site, the landscaping
will be nothing more than additional plantings along the west side (entry to
the facility), on both sides of the driveway. Nothing else.
- City has stated that they do not want to include
an irrigation system for either of the 2 facilities.
- Let your proposal plan on 3 meetings total, two at
our office and one at the City. All other coordination/communication will be
via phone and electronic.
- For the preliminary design effort at both
facilities (commensurate with our 10% design level), we think all that will be
required of you will be conceptual sketches. No stand alone pre-design report
or other deliverable.
- For the submissions after the conceptual level at
both facilities, let's eliminate the 60% and just have 90% and 100%
submissions. We would hope that a 90% level is achievable for the landscape
architecture plans at the same time that our 60% plans are due to the City.
This would be about 8 months after contract execution and project startup, and
5 or 6 months after completion of the conceptual level effort.
- Permitting support can be excluded, as we will
handle with the City with our cumulative 90% submittal.
- Perhaps bidding services involvement could be
reduced a little, given the simplification of the scope.
Thank you in advance for these alterations. I am in
between 2 and 4 pm this afternoon if you wish to discuss further.
Chris Kelsey
